Lesson 5. Prepositions

Prepositions are short words (on, in, to) that usually stand in front of nouns (sometimes also in front of gerund verbs).
Even advanced learners of English find prepositions difficult, as a 1:1 translation is usually not possible. One preposition in your native language might have several translations depending on the situation.
There are hardly any rules as to when to use which preposition. The only way to learn prepositions is looking them up in a dictionary, reading a lot in English (literature) and learning useful phrases off by heart (study tips).

Lesson 5.1 Prepositions of time

In this lesson we are going to learn the preoposition of time..Don´t get confused!

Lesson 5.2 Preposition for direction

Ok..let´s continue with the prepositions..now we are going to give some directions!

Lesson 5.3 Prepositions of place

A preposition is a word that shows the relationship between a noun or a pronoun and another word in the sentence. For example, in the sentence, "My dog is on the bed," the word "on" is the preposition; it shows the relationship between the dog and the bed. One way to think of prepositions is to remember that they indicate location. If we change the preposition, we change where the dog is, in relation to the bed. Consider these examples:
The dog is under the bed.
The dog is in the bed.
